The Annabelle Food Truck

While on our latest trip to West Virginia we had quite a tough time finding a decent meal. All hope had seemed lost until some friends took us to check out The Annabelle Food Truck, located on the outskirts of Gassaway. Nestled along the banks of the Elk River, you will find this mobile oasis of made to order food at a very reasonable price.

The Annabelle, named after the Edgar Allan Poe poem Annabel Lee is surrounded by a variety of outdoor seating options. Some of which provide escape from the oppressive summer sun. Around the back side you will also find a prime view of a small performance space, often filled with local musical talent set against the Elk River backdrop. Unfortunately for us we could not stick around for the evening show.

We were however able to relax for a bit and enjoy an awesome dinner. My Classic Reuben Panini was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. I consider myself a connoisseur of fine reuben sandwiches, so this endorsement is legit. I highly recommend giving this option a try.

The Large Chicken Quesadilla was exactly that. More than enough for one average human to eat. Grilled up with a nice outer crisp, full of big chunks of chicken, and melty cheese. Served with salsa and sour cream.

Annabelle Burger with fries. A grilled burger with fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, and gouda cheese sandwiched between two slices of grilled italian toast. Something you would assemble at an awesome cookout, not some fast food attempt at a burger.

Since first opening for business on July 4th 2020 this truckload of deliciousness has been creating quite a buzz. According to owner Adam Tanner, he is quite capable of mobilizing but has remained mostly stationary due to COVID-19.

The Annabelle isn’t the only jewel you will find along the Elk River. A sister project or rather uncle project, Uncle Ani’s Elk River Gem Mine opens this weekend. Reach out to Adam to get this mobile gem mine at your next big event. Or stop by home base and try your hand at prospecting with your meal or live entertainment. 1555 Elk River Rd. Gassaway, West Virginia 26624

We think Adam and the crew of The Annabelle are literally going to go places. Next time we pass through we will certainly be stopping in for an update on where they’re going, and where they’ve been.

Be sure to stop in for a bite on a Friday or Saturday night when they are showcasing the local musical talent. When you do sign the truck and send a pic to MyTravelingHabit@gmail.com we will forever immortalize below!
